Mini-Skeins - Shetland Wool Jumper Weight (88m/20g)

We're delighted to offer a selection of mini-skeins in a range of colourways, hand dyed on our ever-popular Shetland Wool Jumper Weight (4-ply equivalent), perfect for Fair Isle and other colourwork designs.

The base yarn is 100% Shetland Wool from Jamieson & Smith in Lerwick. All the yarn they produce comes from Shetland breed sheep, raised on the Shetland islands, so it is truly pure Shetland wool. The yarn comes in a variety of natural shades, several of which we use to give our recipes a gorgeous depth of colour, which can't be matched by dyeing on an ecru yarn.

This is a 2-ply “jumper weight” which is the equivalent of a 4-ply, giving around 440m/100g, and spun to give the effect of older garments found in the Shetland Islands museum. Each mini-skein weighs approximately 20g, giving you 88 metres of yarn.
