Shetland Wool Lace (800m/100g)

A soft but still hard-wearing yarn, wonderful to work with and ideal to use for knitting traditional Shetland stitches.

Hand dyed/painted 2-ply (800m per 100g) laceweight yarn in 100% pure Shetland wool from sheep raised on the Shetland Isles, and sourced direct from Jamieson & Smith in Shetland. This yarn is often used for the traditional "hap" shawls - the everyday shawls worn by Shetland women - and is the 2-ply version of our Shetland Cobweb Lace.

Two 100g skeins will knit the standard laceweight version of our Yvaine Shetland Stole (above left) and one 100g skein the Eilidh shawl (above right).
