Silk Linen Cobweb Lace (2,200m/100g)

This is an ultra fine single ply (1/22nm) yarn in a blend of 50% Silk and 50% Linen, giving 2,200m per 100g. The linen fibres don't absorb the acid dyes we use, but the silk does, resulting in a slightly slubby, marled effect. Linen and silk drape beautifully, and linen softens with washing and wear, so this will be a lovely yarn for summer accessories or little tops for warm days and evenings. You can work with two strands together to give the equivalent of a fine lace, or just a single strand to produce an heirloom quality piece such as a ring shawl or veil.

It would be perfect for either size of Abbey's Shawl, or any of our Shetland Cobweb designs such as Eilidh or Yvaine. It would also be ideal for weaving.

As a single ply, this yarn is quite delicate compared with one with 2 or more plys, so care does need to be taken when winding and working with it. You may also notice some bias when knitting with a single ply. The yarn comes on small cones, so the skein sizes are quite varied.
