Your Questions Answered
What can I use your yarns for?
- Delicate fine lace and cobweb yarns are perfect for shawls, wraps and scarves for special occasions like weddings, and more complex projects like Shetland Lace
- Slightly heavier laceweight yarns are ideal for a range of techniques and projects such as shawls and lightweight garments for summer wear
- 4-ply yarns (sock weight/fingering) are perfect for accessories (hats, mittens, etc) and garments for everyday wear, including Fair Isle and colourwork techniques, plus textured designs like cables
- Patterns and kits for our own knit and crochet designs for accessories and garments are available - each includes a printed copy of the pattern and sufficient hand-dyed yarn to work the design as written
What fibres do you use?
- Pure fibre yarns and blends of Alpaca, Camel, Cashmere, Linen, Mohair, Silk, Viscose, Wool (including Merino, Blue Faced Leicester, and Lambswool) and Yak
- We only use high quality natural fibre yarns, from British flocks and/or spun in the UK when possible, although the majority of our yarns are sourced by our suppliers from overseas
How many colours do you offer?
- Our dye recipe file contains well over 700 different colourways, with new ones added every season, so the available stock changes on a regular basis
- Yarns are dyed in small batches - often just 100g at a time - using a technique which results in subtle colour variations and gradations, without harsh stripes or pooling
- No two skeins are identical, so whatever you create with our yarns will be one-of-a-kind
If I want a different colour, weight or combination of fibres, or more skeins than are listed, can you help me?
- Definitely - just use the Contact Form to tell us the yarn base and weight, colour and quantity you're interested in and we'll get back to you as soon as we can with a quote and timeframe for a custom order
- Please bear in mind that a particular dye recipe may look different on another fibre base and/or weight - we'll advise if there is likely to be a considerable difference
What sort of dyes do you use and how accurate are the colours on screen?
- We use professional acid dyes, which are blended with food-grade citric acid and then steamed to set the colour
- Colours are reproduced as closely as possible but may look a little different on your monitor
- If you are not happy with the colour, we will be happy to replace it or refund the cost of the yarn
Can I see examples of projects made with your yarns and designs?
- You can find details of our yarns and what customers have made using them on Ravelry, and examples of projects using our designs here
Please note: Everything we sell is produced by hand in our own studio in Norfolk, England. We do not buy in finished items, nor do we employ outworkers.
