Shipping/Postage
Shipping rates from the UK continue to rise, and we absorb as much of this cost as we can - we don't charge for packaging - but sadly are unable to offer free shipping due to these high charges. As a guide, rates for a 100g skein start at:

UK: £4.99 24 Hour Tracked or £3.99 48 Hour Tracked (up to 1.9kg).  Please note, delivery is not guaranteed within 24 or 48 hours, but that is the service aim.

USA, Europe and Northern Ireland: shipping not currently available - see below

Rest of World: starting rates for a 100g skein are £15.25 to £17.50 depending on Zone (using International Tracked services).

We are not responsible for any VAT/import/customs duties or handling charges that may be payable for international purchases, nor for any delays while packages go through customs.

Shipping rates include packaging, and are calculated at checkout according to approximate weight and size. Patterns and small items are sent Large Letter rate where possible, but skeins will normally be sent Small Parcel rate as they are too bulky for Large Letter sizes.

Orders will normally be despatched within three working days of purchase, Monday to Friday.  We use tracked mail within the UK and always obtain a Proof of Posting. If you would prefer us to use a signed-for service, please contact us and we will calculate costs for you.

If you wish to buy more than 500g of yarn, please contact us for a shipping quote so that we can calculate the shipping figure accurately for you, based on the actual weight of the yarn (some skeins are slightly larger than the indicated weight) plus packaging, as the website can only give approximate costs.

International delivery times do vary depending on time of year, weather, customs delays, etc. Royal Mail quotes up to 5 working days for Europe and 7 working days for the rest of the world, but experience suggests deliveries sometimes take much longer due to  customs and VAT regulations. Please be patient if your package does not arrive within these guidelines, as we cannot claim for lost international post until at least 25 working days (Monday to Friday) after the package would be expected to arrive, and nearly all do arrive within this time frame.

We do recommend the use of insurance/tracking services for larger orders, as compensation for standard Royal Mail postal services only covers packages up to £50 in value, and they will not refund any monies if the value of the package is more than the insured value.

If you require insurance services for either UK or international shipping, please let us know and we can invoice you separately for additional costs.

Sales to EU Countries and Northern Ireland - Updated 22 December 2024

The introduction in December 2024 of the General Product Safety Regulations (GPSR) requires safety information to be shown on all products sold to EU countries and Northern Ireland. Sellers outside the EU are also required to appoint an authorised representative within the EU, to ensure compliance. From information received so far, the cost of this is likely to be financially unviable for small businesses, whilst failing to comply runs the risk of large fines. Regrettably we must therefore pause acceptance of orders from the EU and Northern Ireland for the time being. If this situation changes, subscribers will be the first to know!

Sales to USA - Updated 11 October 2025

Due to the imposition of tariffs by the US Government, deliveries to the USA have been paused for the time being while we investigate how to add the relevant charges at the time of purchase, and how these can be remitted to the US Government before goods are shipped, as is now required. We hope this situation will be resolved in the near future.
