Fine Lace Yarns contain 1,000m or more per 100g skein, and are ideal for heirloom projects like baby shawls, wedding shawls/veils, or items for very special occasions. They're perfect for working traditional styles such as Shetland and Estonian knitted lace, and also for many crochet techniques such as Irish crochet lace. You can make a small shawl with as little as 50g of yarn.

Laceweight Yarns have 600 to 950m per 100g skein and are perfect for both accessories and garments. A single 100g skein is usually sufficient to make a good sized shawl.

4-ply Yarns normally give 300 to 550m per 100g skein.  These are great for warmer, everyday shawls, scarves, hats and garments in most techniques, including lace, Fair Isle, cables and textures. 100g will make a small shawl.
