Collection: NEW YARN: Suri Alpaca Silk Cloud Lace (400m/50g)

Classed as a laceweight due to the length (400m/50g), this yarn is beautifully soft and fluffy and is normally knitted on larger needles (at least 4.5mm) to allow the halo to be shown to best effect.  65% Baby Suri Alpaca, 35% Silk, it is a similar in feel to our Mohair Silk Lace and to a well-known brand of mohair silk yarn and can be substituted in patterns for those yarns.  It takes dye beautifully and is perfect for scarves, shawls and cowls, as well as garments.

If you don't like wearing Mohair because you find it too itchy, you might like to try this yarn. The alpaca is softer than mohair and less tickly, and it also sheds its fibres a good deal less.

Please note:  we do not usually reskein our yarns after dyeing but we do reskein our Suri Alpaca Silk Cloud Lace to check that it has not been felted by the dyeing process and to make it easier for you to wind into balls.
