Irene Crochet Shawl Pattern
Irene Crochet Shawl Pattern
Irene is a crochet shawl which forms an elongated, winged triangle shape, with a central spine which runs most of the way down the back, and is worked from the top down.
It features a variety of lace patterns, with a combination of solid areas and other more openwork sections, finishing with a decorative hem edging. There are two versions, the standard laceweight (darker blue) being slightly smaller, and the fine laceweight (paler blue/lavender) incorporating additional sections of pattern.
Designed to be quite challenging and interesting to work, the pattern changes throughout the shawl. This design is therefore recommended for experienced crocheters.
There are two options - you'll need 100g of either yarn weight. Samples were crocheted in:
Blue Faced Leicester Lace (800m/100g) in Blue Iris - wingspan 140cm, centre back depth 71cm, worked with a 3.50mm hook
Merino Cashmere Fine lace (1,200m/100g) in Lavender in Blue - wingspan 150cm, centre back depth 75cm, worked with a 3.00mm hook.
This design can be worked in any of our standard lace (800m/100g) or fine lace (1,200m/100g) yarns. The pattern is written in full without charts.
