Olwen is a top down crescent shawl with an original lace pattern inspired by Julie's favourite Welsh landscapes. This skill level for this design is classed as Advanced, as most of the pattern repeat is worked over 24 stitches.

The pattern includes three sizes in different yarn weights. The size is adjustable and there are options for beads, plus three different edgings to choose from depending on the amount of yarn you have available.

The sample shawls were worked as follows:

Small/4-ply version - 1 x 100g/400m skein of British Alpaca/Wensleydale 4-ply in Blueberry Pie, using 3.75mm circular needles. Dimensions after blocking: 130cm wide, 40cm deep.

Medium/Fine Lace version - 1 x 50g/600m skein of Lambswool Fine Lace in Misty Lilac, using 3.00mm circular needles. Dimensions after blocking: 175cm wide, 45cm deep.

Large/Laceweight version - 1 x 100g/800m skein of Alpaca Silk Lace in Black Cherry, using 3.25mm circular needles. Dimensions after blocking: 200cm wide, 60cm deep.

To bead throughout the shawl would require approximately 400/500/1,200 beads respectively.  To bead the edging only, you would need around 200/200/400 beads.

The pattern is presented both in chart form and as fully written instructions.
