Spring Equinox Shawl Pattern

A pretty crescent-shaped shawl in an original lace design, the pattern includes four versions in varying sizes and yarn weights. Each can be worked in a single 100g skein of yarn.  The skill level for this design is classified as Intermediate, for those with some experience in knitted lace.

The design gives you lots of options. Each section of pattern is slightly varied, so you can mix and match the charts, or work the first section in stocking stitch if you prefer. There are two versions of the edging, one a little shorter and useful if you find you're running out of yarn! There are also options for beading, using just a few or lots of beads, throughout the shawl or just on the edging - the 4-ply all-over beaded version shown in the first picture uses just over 1,000 beads.

The sample shawls were worked in the following yarns:

Small 4-ply in all-over lace with deeper edging - Alpaca Silk 4-ply - 1 x 100g/400m skein in Cornflower Crazy using 4.00mm circular needles. Finished size after blocking 130cm wide by 45cm deep.

Small 4-ply in all-over lace with shallow edging - Lambswool Cashmere 4-ply - 1 x 100g/540m skein in Berry Bliss using 4.50mm circular needles.  Finished size after blocking 160cm wide by 52cm deep.

Large laceweight in all-over lace with deeper edging - Merino Silk Lace - 1 x 100g/800m skein in Blue Iris using 3.75mm circular needles.  Finished size after blocking 190cm wide by 50cm deep.

Large laceweight with stocking-stitch start and deeper edging - Merino Lace - 1 x 100g/800m skein in Golden Cornfield using 3.75mm circular needles.  Finished size after blocking 180cm wide by 55cm deep.
