Forest Flowers Pattern
Forest Flowers Pattern
This shawl was inspired by primroses and wood anemones glimpsed on the forest floor on a sunny spring morning.
Classed as reasonably easy for knitters with some experience, this design is adjustable in size and can be worked with a single skein of laceweight or 4-ply yarn.
The main body is worked in a traditional Estonian pattern comprising a simple 8-row repeat. This develops into a diamond and flower edging that can be blocked into neat points.
My sample shawls were worked in the following yarns:
Small Laceweight version - Victorian Violets, Baby Alpaca Lace, 1 x 100g/800m skein, using 3.25mm needles. Finished size after blocking 100cm wide by 50cm deep.
Medium 4-ply version - Pink with a Hangover, British Alpaca Silk 4-ply, 1 x 100g/450m skein using 4mm needles. Finished size after blocking 140cm wide by 70cm deep.
The pattern is presented in both chart and full written form.
