Zahara Lace Hat Pattern
Zahara Lace Hat Pattern
Zahara - Greek for ‘radiance’ - is a delicate lace hat with a ribbed hem, designed to be worn as a fairly loose, slouchy style. The crown decreases are worked over stocking stitch to form a spiral pattern. Suitable for knitters with some experience of lace, the skill level for this design is classified as Intermediate.
There is a matching cowl design available, worked in the same yarn and lace pattern.
The hat is designed to be worked from the bottom up on circular/ double-pointed needles and can be made with approximately 30g (240m) of laceweight yarn. The sample was worked in three colours but the design can be worked in a single colourway if preferred.
The sample was knitted in Silky Merino Lace using three 20g/160m mini-skeins in Magenta Moments, Ultramarine Violet and Violet Haze, on 2.75mm and 3.5mm needles. To fit an average adult head, circumference approximately 56cm (22 inches). Length from crown to cast on edge approximately 24cm (9½ inches).
The lace pattern is both charted and written in full.
