Zahara Lace Cowl Pattern
Zahara Lace Cowl Pattern
Zahara - Greek for ‘radiance’ - is a delicate lace and ribbed cowl which features a pointed lace edge at the hem. The same lace pattern is then used as a panel between sections of ribbing, before the neckline is completed with more ribbing and a rolled, stocking stitch edge. Suitable for knitters with some experience of lace, the skill level for this design is classified as Intermediate.
There is a matching hat design available, worked in the same yarn and lace pattern.
The pattern can easily be adapted to make a larger circumference cowl if required (more yarn would be required).
The cowl is designed to be worked on a circular needle and can be made with approximately 45g (360m) of laceweight yarn. The sample was worked in three colours but the design can be worked in a single colourway if preferred.
The sample was knitted in Silky Merino Lace using three 20g/160m mini-skeins in Magenta Moments, Ultramarine Violet and Violet Haze, on 2.75mm and 3.5mm needles. Finished measurements after blocking: 71cm (28 inches) in circumference, 27cm (10.5 inches) deep.
The lace pattern is both charted and written in full.
